Mary Evelyn Scott

CHANDLERSVILLE: Mary Evelyn Scott, 80 of Chandlersville, passed away at 2:27 am Monday August 5, 2013 at the Becket House in New Concord.

Mary Evelyn was born December 11, 1932 in East Union, the daughter of the late Ford and Dean (Hesson) Archer.

She worked as a school teacher for Zanesville City Schools for over 20 years, she was a previous member of Carlwick and Timber Run Granges and she was a member of the Market Street Baptist Church.

Mary Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Tom) Baughman of Rix Mills; her son, Matthew (Stephanie) Scott of Chandlersville; six grandchildren, Bryan (Amy) Baughman, Mark (Michele) Baughman, Sarah (Tim) Tewksbary, Susan Scott Andrew (Tiffany McFrederick) Scott and Annie (Joe Green) Scott; nine great grandchildren, Saydee, Connar, Libbee, Cade, Laurie Baughman and Caleb Scott, Abbey, Hannah and Joel Tewksbary; her brother, Bill Archer of Columbus; sisters-in-law, Margaret Archer of Beverly and June Scott of Cumberland; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, James W. Scott who passed away May 25, 2011; her brothers, Virgil, Leighton, Don and David Archers.

In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to Genesis Hospice, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, OH.

Visitations will be 4 to 8 pm Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls where funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday with Pastor Howard Thompson, Pastor Tim Patton and Pastor Keith Taylor officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Rich Hill Cemetery.

Sorry to hear the news. Mrs. Scott was my teacher at Pleasant Grove and in the last few years, I had the pleasure of seeing her at church on Sunday Mornings. She was still the only person that called me Jennifer. She said "Jenny isn't your name" and laughed. Her humor and love for children touched many.
