Paul J. Borowitz

ZANESVILLE: Paul J. Borowitz, 75 of Zanesville, died peacefully at 2:40 AM Friday, December 7, 2012 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice following a long illness. He was born Wednesday, June 16, 1937 in Columbus, the son of Joseph Borowitz and Anne (Grundei) Borowitz. He married Karen (Beader) Borowitz on Saturday, June 10, 1961 at St. Emeric Catholic Church in New York City.

Paul served his country and is a Veteran of The United States Air Force. Paul attended Aquinas College High School in Columbus and graduated with a Juris Doctorate Degree from The Ohio State University. He practiced with the Law Firms of Miller, Pfeiffer, Burkhart and Batross and Graham & Graham. He retired from the Muskingum County Prosecutors Office as Assistant Prosecutor. He served as Past President of Rosecrans School Board and Past President of The Muskingum County Bar Association. He was a Member of Knights of Columbus, Council 505 and a very active and faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Paul is survived by his wife: Karen of the home; one son: Paul & Sue Borowitz of Crystal Lake, IL; two grandsons: Nick Borowitz and Alex Borowitz both of Crystal Lake; one sister: Rosalyn & Gary Ison of Hilliard; two brothers: Joseph Borowitz of West Layette, IN and Robert & Marilyn Borowitz of Columbus; two sisters-in-law: Linda Beader and Monica Beader both of Zanesville and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew: Gary Allen Ison.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, December 9, 2012 at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue where a Christian Vigil will be held at 7:45 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Monday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with a Dominican Father as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with VFW Post 1058 conducting full military honors. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Morrison House Hospice, 713 Forest Avenue, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 North Fifth Street, Bishop Rosecrans High School, 1040 East Main Street or Knights of Columbus Council 505, 275 Sunrise Center Drive, Zanesville, Ohio 43701 in Paul's memory.
