Robert William Forker Jr.

ZANESVILLE: Robert William Forker, Jr., 64,of Zanesville died at 1:28 P.M on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Genesis Hospice Morrision House after a courageous, hard fought battle with cancer. He was born May 31, 1949 in Zanesville to the late Robert W. Sr. and Jane Young Forker. He attended Zanesville High School and Ohio State and worked in the insurance business.

Through the years he enjoyed fishing, golf, caving and whitewater kayaking. He was also an avid 250 Superkart Racer and licensed private pilot. He was also awarded a citation by the State of PA. for saving a drowning rafter's life on the Youghiogheny River at Ohiopyle, PA.

He is a member of Amity Lodge #5 F&AM and past member of Noon Rotary, BPOE #114, Zanesville Country Club, Zanesville Assoc. of Life Underwriters, Big Brothers, Muskingum Co. Republican Club and the Design Review Board.

He is survived by his brother, Douglas Young Forker; best friend, Diana Geidenberger and her son,Will Laymon.

No calling hours or service will be observed. Per Robert's request, his body was bequeathed to Ohio University for research. BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE has been entrusted with arrangement.

Dear Doug, You have to remember way back for this but Rob was my first date! Maybe I was his, too, though I never knew. We were in 5th grade at Westview and Rob asked me to go to an after school basketball game at Nashport. Following the game we returned to your house where we had a lovely family dinner together that your mother had prepared. Your father drove me home afterwards. I have always remembered that Robbie was my first, real date. I'm truly sorry for your loss and for those near and dear who find themselves without their treasured Rob. With all of my heart, I want to thank all of you for your kind words and tributes regarding my very close partner in the travels through life. I am a fortunate person to have enjoyed and endured the good and bad with Rob at my side. I know he is with God almighty and the Lord Jesus. They gave me the sign by taking him on the same day, (March 8) as my mother died on. Rest in peace Rob; I'll love you and think of you each day until we join again.. As Rob mentioned to Doug a little while ago, he was soon going on the big road trip. Lord knows how many regular road trips we all took together over the last 50 years. He was the best friend a guy could ever have, and I miss him dearly.
