Sara "Sally" Bailey Schmidt

FINDLAY: Sara "Sally" Bailey Schmidt, 91, of Findlay, Ohio and formerly a resident of New Lexington, Ohio, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, Ohio.

She was born December 15, 1921 in New Lexington, Ohio to parents Jess and Hazel Underwood. She graduated from Somerset High School in 1939 and from The Ohio State University in 1943 with a degree in Home Economics. She married James Bailey in 1942 and together Jim and Sally raised four children. She was a homemaker and Home Economics teacher before working many years with her husband who was the owner of the Home Store in New Lexington for 35 years. Jim preceded her in death in 1983.

Sally married Herbert Schmidt in 1988 while residing in Sarasota, Florida. He preceded her in death in 2004.

Sally is survived by four children, Tom (Suzanne) Bailey, Russell, Kentucky, Tim Bailey, Buffalo, New York, Ann (Gregg) Glamm, North Baltimore, Ohio, and Ted (Janet) Bailey, Columbus, Ohio; she is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ross Underwood, and a sister, Dorothy Mautz.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the First United Methodist Church in New Lexington, Ohio.

Arrangements have been entrusted to SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore. Any memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Bridge Hospice Care in Findlay, Ohio. Online condolences may be made via www.coldrencrates.com

To the Bailey Family, I am so sorry to learn of your mother's passing. The Home Store was a staple during my childhood. I remember shopping in there with your mother in the ladies dress department upstairs on the second floor like it was yesterday. She lived a good, long life.
