From 1967 to 1972, my memories of Steve will always contain him, Doug Thomas, Jim Blevins, Rick Dayton, and Bob Harlan, as we seemed to be inseparable during that period of time. He was a mooch, but a fun mooch. He never paid cash, but paid his way with laughter. Those were our teen-age years. By 1972 we were all beginning to spiral out into our own separate adult lives, but the time I knew Steve will always make me think of think of the stories of Huck Finn and Peter Pan, because during those brief years we lived those stories. For a brief period of time, they weren't stories, they were real events of floating down rivers, dodging chores, running away from home to join the carnival, and engaging in boyish mischief. In the final analysis, they were great years.
