Winifred Krigbaum Obituary

Winifred M. Krigbaum

ZANESVILLE: Winifred M. Krigbaum, 92, of Zanesville, died at 4:30 P.M. on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. She was born October 25, 1923, in South Zanesville, a daughter of the late Marion Leslie and Blanche Hallowell Krigbaum. Winnie worked for the Muskingum County Board of education and Swingle Motor Company as Secretary before beginning her 39 year career as a claims representative for the Social Security Administration. There she helped countless people file claims and obtain a better quality of life. She also made friends with many of her co-workers, those friendships endured until her death. One of Winnie's favorite activities of the month was to meet with a group of fellow retirees every fourth Thursday. She was a lifelong member of the South Zanesville United Methodist Church, where she volunteered every week. She was also an active member of her Sunday School class and the United Methodist Women. Winnie loved all her family dearly and was involved in their lives. She loved dogs and traveling, and was always sending cards to family, friends and acquaintances.

Surviving are ten nieces, Sandra Robe, Carol Frame, Lenora Hamilton, June Beasley, Deanna Russell, Emma McCoy, Juanita Webb, Leatrice Krigbaum, Phyllis Mansfield and Jackie Young; five nephews, Kelsey Krigbaum, Ron Wetherell, Richard Krigbaum, Kenneth Krigbaum and Curt Krigbaum; and many great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Cecil Ray, William Otis, and Marion LeRoy Krigbaum; sisters Mildred Edna Lemmon, Alice Marie Robe and Minnie Beatrice Wetherell; nieces Marlene Wiles and Dorothy Cochran; and nephews Charles Lemmon and Robert Robe.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, with Pastor Dee Rader officiating. She will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Zanesville.

Dear family of Winifred, Winnie was my first Sunday School teacher when I was about 5 years old.She and another lady taught together at SZUMC at the time. She was such a kind and caring lady. I'll always remember her. She was a blessing to everyone who knew her. I just saw her in a local pharmacy a little over a month ago. What a wonderful person she was! My condolence on your loss.
