President's Perspective

Dear VFDA Members and Friends:

During the last two years I have learned a tremendous amount of information and one thing for certain, our association provides wonderful educational programs that are as good as what the National Association provides. In Vermont we have a great association because our members make it this way.

As I reflect back on the last two years I have served you as president I would like to thank everyone who assisted me. The progress our association has made in moving forward is done a little at a time, baby steps. We are going forward in our industry at the state and national level. Many small things have helped us and definitely on the national level the Emmy-winning PBS Documentary "The Undertaking" has assisted greatly. Our industry received a lot of well-deserved positive press, whether it was a monetary presentation, a speech to a group, a newspaper article, a wreath laying in Montpelier, or radio show. Thanks for all the help; we are the only ones who will promote our industry.

Your board is always looking to our members for input and ideas. If you have an idea for continuing education speakers or the newsletter please let us know. Please remember any member who has a question on anything related to funerals or running a funeral home can call NFDA for help.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask each one of you to consider serving a term on your Associations Board. There is a lot of work that needs to be done. You do not have to serve in all offices; try it for two years and see how you like it. The knowledge and experiences cannot be duplicated anywhere else.

Thanks for everything.

Sincerely,
Chris
