Laverne Edward Gorham

LaVern Edward "Vern" Gorham LaVern Edward "Vern" Gorham, 76, succumbed to lung cancer on Sunday, November 23, 2008, surrounded by his family. Born in Battle Creek, MI and graduating from Central HS, he moved to Safety Harbor, FL in the mid 70's. A veteran, he served in the Army during the Korean War as a musician in the band. Throughout his life he was a talented saxophonist/singer and a member of many bands including his own, The Crosswinds. He was an amazing car salesman and opened his own business, Sunshine Auto Sales, in the late 70's. He retired in Largo, FL and spent his time dabbling in real estate and the stock market, enjoying country music, watching the Bucs and Rays games, gardening (especially his roses) and crossword puzzles. His favorite times were spent surrounded by his family and friends. He was the best at cracking jokes and loved to make people laugh. He is survived by 1st wife, Donna Tudor (GA); daughter, Linda Cosmos and son, Tim Gorham (veteran); 2nd wife, Carol Cotter (MI); son, Troy Gorham; daughters, Tracy Gorham, Teresa Gowing and Tammy Gorham; 3rd wife and best friend, Janice Gorham (FL); sons, James "Ederd" Sanderson, Terry Gorham and daughter, Brandi Gorham; fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and dear friend, Shirley Cushman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Gorham and Almeda Theaker and daughter, Misti Gorham. He enjoyed life to its fullest and will be greatly missed. We love you and as you would always reply, "I love you more!" Services were held on December 3rd, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Foundation of the Florida Suncoast.
