Richard Wagner Obituary

Richard E. "Dick" Wagner Glendora, CA Richard E. "Dick" Wagner, age 86, of Glendora, CA, formerly of the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek areas, died on March 31, 2009, in Glendora, CA. Dick was born on March 17, 1923 in Climax, MI and was the son of Timothy M. and Veda Mae (York) Wagner. He attended schools in Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Sturgis, MI, where he graduated with honors in June of 1940. Dick served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his service, he attended the University of Michigan, where he graduated with a B.S. in Engineering and a B.S. in Mathematics in June of 1949. Dick then moved to California and started his working career with Douglas Aircraft Company in Santa Monica, and retired after 23 years with the Naval Underseas Center in Pasadena. A single man all of his life, Dick was much loved by his family, friends and wonderfully caring neighbors in Glendora. He was a man of many interests with a love of classic music, books and woodworking and a special fascination with old sailing ships, trains and automobiles. Dick is survived by his brother: Robert T. "Bob" Wagner of Bellevue, WA; two nieces; three nephews; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister: Patricia. The graveside service to celebrate Dick's life was held on Saturday, April 25th at 2:00 p.m. at Prairie Home Cemetery, Climax, with the Rev. Robert G. Muirhead, officiating. Memorial contributions in Dick's honor may be made to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL, 60674, or the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
