Reba Parris Obituary

Reba Evelyn Parris Chesapeake Beach, MD Reba Evelyn Parris, 89 of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, formerly of Battle Creek died Friday May 22, 2009. She was born on January 17, 1920 in Dayton, TN to Virgil and Lola Phillips. She moved with her parents and sister to Battle Creek in 1936. She married Ransom "Randy" Parris in October, 1941. They were married 65 years until he preceded her in death on June 3, 2006. Her sister Inez Phillips died in August 2006. She is survived by their three children, Shirley (Quinn) Slusher, Chesapeake Beach, Maryland; James L. Parris; Joyce "Jody" (Harry) Whitworth, Battle Creek; seven grandchildren, Kimberly (Gary) Hepler, Deborah A. (John) Brunner, Veronica (Cass) Azera, James M. (Lori) Parris, Steven Whitworth, Nicole (Rick) Penix, Randy (Julene) Slusher; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; many nieces and nephews. She and her husband owned and operated Randy's Market at two locations on 20th Street, Springfield, from 1967 through 1981. She also worked as a caregiver for numerous persons in Battle Creek for many years, as well as for the Battle Creek School System, the Battle Creek Sanitarium, OK Laundry, and at Fort Custer. She loved to make quilts, had an extensive collection of elephants, and was very active in her church. Family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday with Rev. Ronald Craig and Rev. Jesse Buie officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Church of God of Prophecy, 2938 W. Dickman Rd. Battle Creek, MI 49015 or Calvert Christian Fellowship, 2829 Chesapeake Beach Rd. Dunkirk, MD 20754

Reba and Randy were wonderful neighbors for many years.She and Randy were always considerate and pleasant.I really miss them both.
