William Erskine Obituary

William H. "Bill" Erskine, Jr. Battle Creek William H. "Bill" Erskine, Jr. 75, of Battle Creek went peacefully to join our Lord on Saturday, June 13, 2009. Bill was born in Battle Creek on September 11, 1933 He is survived by his loving wife the former Charlene E. Heath, whom he married in Battle Creek on May 18, 1963. His children, Valerie (John) Walker, Tina Erskine, Devis (Mike) Toll, Debra Allgiar and William Erskine III; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister, Geri Swartz. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tiffany Lyn Erskine. his parents, William and Myrtie (Howe) Erskine; a sister, Marjorie Kline. Bill enjoyed traveling and spent time along the Lake Michigan shore and upper Michigan, as well as in Florida, enjoying many vacations with his children and grandchildren. He attended Athens Schools and DeVry University of Chicago, and worked at Stanley Home Products, Norman Produce, Henning Heating Company and Morse Brothers Sheet Metal. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Engineering Association and past member of the Harper Creek Optimists. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. At the request of the family, friends may call at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Monday (today) where they will be received from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Wesleyan Church, 14425 South Helmer Rd. with Pastor Robert Zuhl officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Battle Creek Health Systems, c/o the Battle Creek Community Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
