Ethel Kedo Obituary

Ethel L. (Dillon) Kedo Marshall Ethel L. (Dillon) Kedo, 79, of Marshall, passed Sunday, June 14, 2009, at her home. Ethel was born to Lee and Nancy Jane (Kilgore) Dillon October 25, 1929 in Floyd County, Kentucky. She came to Michigan as a teenager and lived with her Uncle Jim and Aunt Julie Kilgore until she married John Kedo on April 11, 1947. Ethel centered her life around her family and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an example to her family of love, compassion, and importance of family. Ethel was a homemaker until 1965 when she went to work at Fabricators in Marshall, where she worked until the plant closed. She then worked at Eatons and then went to Keiper-Recarro when they opened in Battle Creek where she worked until she retired in 1989. Ethel enjoyed bowling with her family and in leagues with her work friends. Her other hobbies included shopping and cooking for her family. She was famous for her dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls and her coleslaw was requested at every family dinner. Ethel is survived by her children, Marilyn (Roger) Shreve, Barbara Holmes, Yvonne Kay (Bob) Armour, Terry (Sharon) Kedo, Jeffrey Kedo, Angelia (Gary) Van der Leek, Melissa Kedo and "adopted" daughter, Mary Oldham; grandchildren, Mark Shreve, Doug (Kim) Shreve, Mike (Lisa) Holmes, Khristine (Brandon) Marquoit, Todd Kedo, Natasha Bartley, Deborah (Trent) Hegge, Chelsea (Remy) Chartier, Ashley Zigler, Jordan Kedo; daughter-in-law, Marcia Smith; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters Lillie Sheldon, Irene Russell, and Helen Sheldon. Ethel was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Kedo; her parents; brothers, William Dillon, Carl Dillon, Charles Dillon, Bill Howard, Bob Howard; sister, Carol Collins; and son-in-law, Kenneth Holmes. Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 2-4pm and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services celebrating her life will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Life Span Good Samaritan Hospice or to the American Heart Association.
