Lucille Linstead Obituary

Lucille A. Linstead Bedford Twp, Battle Creek Lucille A. Linstead 91, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born January 27, 1918 in Bethel Twp., Coldwater the daughter of Lyman T. and Myrtle (Brewer) Harris and was a 1936 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. She was a homemaker, but had worked at Kellogg's, Whitefront Bakery and as a waitress for over 20 years at the former Hart Hotel. On September 9, 1939 Lucille Ada Harris was united in marriage to Paul Linstead, Jr., in Byron, Ohio; they made their home together for over 61 years in the same house. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2001. She is survived by two daughters, Carol Bennett and Linda (Don) Chantrenne; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Linstead, all of Battle Creek; three granddaughters, two grandsons and eleven great-grandchildren (who called her Granny). In addition to her husband, Paul, Lucille was preceded in death by her son, P. Dean Linstead; two sisters, Lois Willett and Maudie Moon; a granddaughter, Dena Linstead and a son-in-law, Patrick Bennett. She was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and loved spending time with her family. She was an avid puzzler, enjoyed hooking rugs and was an expert at Solitaire. At the request of the family, friends will be received 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Monday, July 13, 2009 with the Rev. Travis L. Davis, officiating. Interment will take place at Bedford Cemetery next to her husband. Friends who wish may make memorial contribution to the Community Action Agency Meals on Wheels.
