John Hathaway Obituary

John David Hathaway John David Hathaway, beloved husband of Helene J. Hathaway (nee Kim), adored and loving father to Kathleen "Kitty" (Tom) Hausfeld and step-father to Sandy (Bob) McDonald, Greg Pipe and Jim (Teri) Pipe, attentive and devoted grandfather to Jack Hausfeld, Ashley, Megan and Nathan Pipe, Lucas and Aly Britt, passed away August 10, 2009 in a car accident near Palm Springs, CA. Retired after 30 years with Grand Trunk Railroad, Dave devoted much of his time to others at his home in Surprise, AZ, as well as in Holland and Battle Creek, MI. He was active in his church, Habitat for Humanity, prison ministry and his much loved volunteer work in Montana in the potato fields. Dave will always be remembered for the kind and gentle giant he was. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Habitat for Humanity, 9133 N.W. I'm so sorry to hear about David's death. What a wonderful man and leader he was. We'll never forget his time spent in fellowship and leadership at the Friend's church in Battle Creek.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. Dave was kind and helpful many years ago to me as a member of a church youth group way back in Battle Creek.
