Ruth Cross Obituary

Ruth Caroline (Rheynard) Cross Ruth Caroline (Rheynard) Cross has gone to be with the Lord on September 6, 2009. She was born in Battle Creek to Charles and Vera (Smith) Rheynard on April 27, 1919. Ruth was preceded in death by husband, Colonel; brothers, Lloyd, Joseph, Roland and Kenneth; and sister, Doris. Ruth leaves behind a brother, Darrell; daughters, Kay Rice of Largo, FL, Sandra (Ricardo) Rodriguez of Seguin, TX; son, Steven (Linda) Cross of Battle Creek, MI; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 13 great great-grandchildren. Ruth did sewing for her family and friends as well as making the uniforms for the ladies in the test kitchen and the tour guides at Kellogg's. She and her daughter, Kay went on a cruise liner for a week. Ruth enjoyed fishing, crafts, playing her organ and gardening both vegetables and flowers. She also enjoyed going to Las Vegas (3 times) and Louisiana to gamble of course and loved all the glitter. She will surely be missed by everyone she has touched the hearts of. At the request of the family, friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where they will be received 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services to celebrate Ruth's life will be held at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2009. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Care. No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My deepest condolences are with you as you grieve.

Ruth was full of soul and blessed to be able to fill her world with beautiful music. I called her the "F" key lady because that was her favorite to play the organ in. She will be greatly missed. Lisa Mallwitz
