Hazel Archer Obituary

Hazel Mae Archer Dowagiac Hazel Mae Archer, 95, of Dowagiac, and formerly of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Lakeland Specialty Care in Berrien Township. Hazel was born April 18, 1914, in Harbor Springs, MI the daughter of Menzo Royal and Clara (Cupp) Black. She was a homemaker most of her life. Hazel loved her family and friends. She also enjoyed crochet, playing cards, cooking, puzzles and flower gardening. Hazel married Melvin George Archer on December 14, 1930. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1967. She is survived by her granddaughters, Claudia Helbling and Serene (David) Swift of Battle Creek. She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Shannon (Michael) Tate of Battle Creek, Elizabeth (Daniel) Graham of Three Rivers, Rebecca Finney of Battle Creek, Eric (Jennifer) Vincent of Battle Creek and Richard Swift of Battle Creek; and great-great-grandchildren, Ashley Tate, McKenzie McNees, Brooklynn Graham, Emily Vincent, Landon Vincent, Xavier Graham, Michael Tate and Dylin Swift. She was preceded in death by her son, Dale Melvin Archer, and her daughter, Donna Jean Vester. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Royal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Royal Funeral Home with Rev Ron Kinzel officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
