Norman Payne Obituary

Norman Edwin Payne Homer Norman Edwin Payne, 88, passed away October 21, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Ann Arbor. He was born May 26, 1921 in Albion Township to Ernest and Elsie (Ansterberg) Payne. He married Ellen Henshaw on September 18, 1943; she preceded him in death on June 11, 2002. Growing up he worked on the family farm and trucking business. Norman served his country in the US Army Air Force during World War II. Norman was a pattern maker and owned his own business, Pyramid Pattern in Albion. In his retirement he worked with Dick Dobbins helping to establish Caster Concepts. Norman was a member of Humanity Lodge #29 in 1942, RAM Chapter #130 Comandary, Order of Eastern Star and Homer VFW. Norman's main love was for his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing, time at the cottage, watching his grandchildren playing sports, gardening and yard work. He is survived by, daughters, Sue (Bill) Timmins of Homer, Sandi (Kevyn) Van Wert of Homer; son, Michael (Kathy) Payne of Homer; sister, Mable Clark and her son Ken Clark; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ellen, his parents and brother Cecil. Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2009, at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, MI. with Gary Hammontree officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Homer on Sunday November 1, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, October 24 at the funeral home.
