John Green Obituary

John L. Green Jr. Battle Creek John L. Green Jr., 81, of Battle Creek, passed away October 31, 2009 at the Evergreen Senior Care Center. John was born November 8, 1927, in Battle Creek, the son of John and Allene (Bretz) Green. He attended Battle Creek Central High School and later earned his GED. John was employed by Sherwin Williams Paint Co. where he served as a store manager and sales representative. He retired in 1984. John was a Life Member of Elks Lodge #131, Eagles Lodge #299 and the Burnham Brook Senior Center. John enjoyed umpiring in city and high school softball and baseball leagues for many years. He was an avid golfer, bowler and billiard player and enjoyed playing cards. His first marriage to Jackie Baker ended in divorce. He then married the former Julaine "Julie" Willis on April 29, 1972. She survives him. He is also survived by his son, David J. Green of Saline, MI; and daughters, Linda Oge' of Las Vegas and Cheryl A. Hinds of Battle Creek. He also leaves four grandsons, a granddaughter, and his caring family at Evergreen Senior Care Center. He was preceded by his parents. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Royal Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the Calhoun area Humane Society.
