Bernita C. Prianto Battle Creek Bernita Clara Prianto, 84, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her daughter's home on Saturday evening, January 9, 2010. She was born April 4, 1925 in Hastings, MI, the daughter of Glen C. Gates and Gertrude (Gage) Gates. Bernita worked at the Clark Equipment Company in the accounts payable, billing and payroll departments for 25 years until she retired in 1980. She married Ellis Anton Prianto on January 4, 1942 in Battle Creek; however, her husband passed away in 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Dennie) Kendall of Battle Creek; five grandchildren: Tim and Denise Kendall, Dennie Lee and Kathy Kendall, and Eric Kendall, Reco Prianto and Roland Prianto; six great grandchildren: Jacob Kendall, Mackenzie Kendall, Jordyn Kendall, Kendyl Lister, Brittney Kendall, and Logan Haluskza; great-great grandson- Teagan Lister; her sister: Imogene M. Lick of Battle Creek Bernita was preceded in death by her parents, a son: Bernard Reco Prianto, a grandson-Tagore Prianto, and three brothers. She received her education in Delton and Hastings. They settled in Battle Creek in 1941 from Cloverdale. She was very family oriented and enjoyed crocheting, particularly afghans, and owned horses to take to run at the horse races. She was under hospice care for 2 years. Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services commemorating the life of Bernita Prianto will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Bachman Funeral Chapel with Pastor James S. Codde, Chaplain of Lifespan Hospice officiating. Entombment will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested toward Lifespan-Good Samaritan Hospice Care.
