Donna Marie Dix

Donna Marie (Whitmore) Dix Grand Blanc Donna Marie (Whitmore) Dix, age 87, formerly of Battle Creek, MI, Carson City, MI and Haslett, MI, died Saturday morning, January 9, 2010, surrounded by her loving family, at her daughter's residence in Grand Blanc. Donna was born on January 14, 1922 in Battle Creek and was the daughter of Harry N. and Laura F. (Newton) Whitmore. She was a 1941 graduate of Battle Creek Lakeview High School. Donna was a member of the Garden Club of Carson City, MI and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Carson City Chapter. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, traveling, playing a round of golf, but her true passion in life was her family. On July 21, 1942, in Battle Creek, Donna was united in marriage to Kenneth Harlan Dix, who preceded her in death on January 3, 1989. Surviving are five daughters, Kathy S. (Roger Kohagen) Olk of Grand Blanc, Diane C. (Fred) Gallatin of Houston, TX, Vicki C. (Gary) Kitts of East Lansing, MI, Chief Warrant Officer Sheila S. Triplett of Lansing, MI and Kay L. (Kenny Greenslate) Griffin of Lincoln, IL; her son, Stephen C. (Judi Moore) Dix, Sr. of North Muskegon, MI; ten grandchildren, Stephen C. (Morgan) Dix, Jr., Kristine (Bob) Kuerbitz, Dennis Cavanaugh, Chelsie Gallatin, Melissa, Holly and Katrina Kitts, Corey Triplett and Matthew and Sara Griffin; three great-grandchildren, Lillian and Lucas Kuerbitz and Gabriel Cavanaugh; her sister, Marge (Homer ) Gunn of Banfield, MI and her brother, Milton (Bernice) Whitmore of Irving, TX. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Irene Whitmore; her brother, Willis J. Whitmore; her son-in-law, Tom Olk; a grandson, Eric L. Triplett and her daughter-in-law, Joyce (Vogl) Dix. At the request of her family, friends may call on Wednesday, January 13 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek. The funeral service to celebrate Donna's life will be held on Thursday, January 14th, her birthday, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Chaplain Hank Messing, of Genesys Hospice of Genesee County, MI, officiating.
