LYNN — Mrs. Ellen "Verdie" (Kanaris) Andros, age 82, of Lynn died Sunday, July 27, 2008, in a local nursing home, after a brief illness.

She was the wife of the late James S. Andros.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Costas and Diana (Samaris) Kanaris. She was raised in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School. She had lived in Lynn for more than 60 years.

Mrs. Andros enjoyed bowling and bingo. She adored her grandchildren.

She is survived by four daughters, Diane Donahue and her husband, Tom, of Lynn, Mary Clarke and her husband, John, of Harwich, Cynthia Worthylake and her husband, Jerry, of Lynn, and Carol Cahill and her husband, Tom, of Peabody; eight grandchildren, Thomas and James Donahue, James and Christine Clarke, Ashley and Alicia Worthylake, and Samantha and Andrew Cahill.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are in the Solimine Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
