Matthew J. Riggs

QUINCY — Matthew Joseph Riggs, 32 years old, of Quincy, formerly of Cape Cod, died suddenly at home on Friday, Oct. 31, 2008.

Born in Quincy, Mr. Riggs was raised and educated in Cape Cod schools, graduating from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School. He lived in Quincy for five years, previously living most of his life on Cape Cod.

He worked as a carpenter in the construction industry for many years.

Mr. Riggs enjoyed playing football and baseball. He was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

He was the beloved son of Barbara N. (Gallagher) and James E. Riggs; devoted brother of Christopher J. Riggs of South Boston and Katherine E. Riggs of Charlestown; loving uncle of Gianna S. Riggs; and grandson of Eileen (Capen) Riggs of Quincy and Joan (Gallagher) Gallagher of Weymouth. He was also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral will be held from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Ave., Quincy, on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 10:15 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow in St. Mary's Church, 95 Crescent St., West Quincy, at 11. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment is private.
