HYANNIS - William S. Rego, 83, died Aug. 24, at Cape Cod Hospital.

Born in New Bedford, Mass., he was the son of the late Joseph and Annie (Sylvia) Rego, and brother of Mary Ann Bancroft of Dartmouth, Mass., Florence Fisher of Raynham, Mass., and Helen Hardy of N.H.; father of Anna Jeanne Russell of Lempster, N.H., and Michelle Leroux of West Barnstable; and grandfather of Katie Leroux of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Heather and Chelsea Leroux, both of West Barnstable.

A graduate of New Bedford High School, William served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army overseas, earning numerous service medals. He worked for Raytheon Corp. for many years, until his retirement in 1987.

He has lived on Cape Cod for the past 20 years. A past District Commander of the VFW post in Dighton, Mass., William loved and enjoyed his grandchildren. He followed their lives and sporting activities closely, but most of all, just enjoyed spending time with them.

Services and burial will be private.

Memorials in his name may be made to VNA of Cape Cod, 434 Route 134, Suite G-1, South Dennis, MA 02660.
