My thoughts & prayers go out to Mary Lane & the rest of the Purtill family in this time of grieving. I just wanted to let you know how much I thought of Al and the special way he always seemed to handle himself. He was such a great mentor, friend, Elder, Deacon & all around servant to Carmel Presbyterian Church, its members & the community. I always enjoyed working on projects around the church with Al, as well as serving as a Deacon & Elder with him. You could always count of Al to be there to help set up & participate in the construction of the Vacation Bible School scenes, the Drive through Christmas, Easter & almost any event we ever had at Carmel, he somehow had a hand in some piece of it. I always had the deepest respect for his leadership abilities, the numerous decisions he had to make over the years in helping run Carmel & the wonderful constructive feedback he was able to give through the kindness in his soft spoken voice. He may have been born in the North, but he was a true “Southern Gentleman” & will be “truly” missed by all of us.

Again my thoughts & prayers go out to the Purtill family but especially to Mary Lane. GOD truly blessed you with a great partner over these many years of your married life & we thank you for sharing him with us!! I am sure GOD will have “Al” on some special project or event in Heaven (Because a good “Servant’s” work is never done). If you ever need us for anything please do not hesitate to call.
