Annie Rodger
BETHUNE -- Funeral service for Annie Mae Rodgers, 99, will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Jefferson, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Steve Leigh and Rev. Terry Corder will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 5-7 pm. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Karesh Wing of KershawHealth or Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Building Fund, 2140 McBee Hwy, Jefferson, SC 29718.
Mrs. Rodgers, wife of the late Emory Singleton Rodgers, died Monday, August 10, 2009. Born in the Buffalo Community, she was a daughter of the late Lemuel and Laura Catoe Deese. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church for over 80 years where she served as a Sunday School teacher and past Director of the W.M.U. She enjoyed ministering to others through her cooking and seeing that her family members always received a birthday card. Mrs. Rodgers devoted herself to the care of her children. She was the last survivor of her generation.
Surviving are her daughters, Vaudearie Anderson of Cassatt, Christine Broughton of West Columbia, Joyce Estridge and her husband, F.C. of Columbia, Joann Morrissette of St. Louis, Mo., and Coletta Woods and her husband, Warren of West Columbia; sons, E. Rabon 'Ray' Rodgers and his wife, Blondell of Lexington, W. Aron Rodgers and his wife, Elaine of Monroe, N.C., D. Bruce Rodgers and his wife, Margaret of Cassatt, and H. Kent Rodgers and his wife, Vivian of Cassatt; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Frances Horton; brothers, Wade Deese, George Deese, William Deese and Fred Deese; and sisters, Ellie Bradley, Ethel Allen, Emmie Holley, Viola Rodgers and Vannie Deese.
