Gerald Kulwicki Obituary
Mr. Kulwicki, age 78, of Charlotte and Milwaukee, WI passed away Friday, February 8, 2008 at home. Funeral service will be held in Milwaukee later next week. Bruskiewitz Funeral home is assisting the family.
Survivors his wife, Mrs. Thelma Buchanan Kulwicki. He was preceded in death by two sons, Alan Kulwicki and Kenny Kulwicki.
Local arrangements are being handled by Wilkinson Funeral Home of Concord.

Dear Thelma.... please accept our deepest symapathies. We want you to know how much you and Gerry mean to us. One of my fondest memories is the quality time we were able to spend at the Polish Hall of Fame ceremony when Alan was inducted. Gerry was a rock and you are a saint. Dear Thelma..... Please accept our deepest sympathies. You must know how much you both meant to Kathy and I. One of my fondest memories was the quality time we spent in Detroit when Alan was inducted into the Polish Sports Hall of Fame. I am still on the Board of Directors. Gerry was a rock and you are a saint. We love you both. I wanted to attend the service, but unfortunately could not get a flight out. I will stop by when I do get to Milwaukee this summer. If there is anything at all we can do, please do not hesitate to ask. We will miss Gerry, but he will live in our hearts just like Alan does. Not one day goes by that I do not think of Alan. Now I will think of him with Gerry being there. Please keep in touch.

In August of 2006, my daughter, Bristol Allyn, and myself had stopped by your house unannounced. Mr. Kulwicki and yourself graciously allowed us into your home to visit. Dear Thelma, We are so sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. It was a pleasure to meet you both, and get to spend some time with you when we were in Wisconsin for the Alan Kulwicki Memorial AK Fun Run/walk where we showed Milwaukee Alan's restored "Underbird". Mrs. Kulwicki, please know that you are in the thoughts & prayers of many people. Although I've never met you, I do remember seeing you & Mr. Kulwicki following the August 1994 Winston Cup Race at Michigan, also waiting in line in the traffic. You were the bright spot in a sad weekend (Ernie Irvan's near fatal accident). I remember thinking how wonderful it was that you still enjoyed racing, although the memories had to be painful.
Please take care of yourself. From everything that I've read here, you & Mr. Kulwicki must both be wonderful people.

Also from WI, I served in the Army with Jerry at Aberdeen Proving, MD in the mid 1950's and car-pooled with him from there to Milwaukee a number of times - first in his Packard, and then in his 56 Olds. Many fond memories of Jerry and his mechanical skills!!

Alan was my dad's cousin! My dad, just called me to tell me that his Uncle had passed away, Gerald. This was his mom's sister's husband. My grandmother's brother-in-law. Her sister had died very young as you probably know and so you may not remember me as I think the family lost touch. I am so saddened by this loss but I know that Alan was there to meet his father and they are happy together again. I wish that Alan and his father were mentioned and honored more or that there was someone to carry on for them. My only hope is that my son, who is a HUGE fan and shows Alan's spirt and maybe now Gerald's spirit will somehow do this for his cousin and then we can do something to preserve his memory so that the new fans learn about them and the legacy they left. God bless you and please email me when any arrangements are made. My son and husband will be at the 500 this weekend and your husband and Alan will be in our thoughts and prayers as will you.

Mr. Kulwicki became a friend through Alan's tragedy and I was always so impressed with the class in which he handled himself. I will miss seeing him because he reminded me so much of Alan. Heartfelt condolences from our family to your family. My family members have been Alan Kulwicki fans since the late '70's at Slinger Speedway. We have met Alan and Jerry many times over the years and are very sad that they are now both gone. Alan now has his family members by his side.

To the Kulwicki Family. I am saddenned at the passing of Mr. Kulwicki. In 1992 I was just starting my racing career and got a job on Alen's team. Mr. Kulwicki was always very nice to me and spoke with me even though I was just an entry level guy. I didn't know many people in racing at the time and that meant a lot. It showed me what a kind and caring person he was.
