I will always remember Doc as the first man to ever give me a chance to be on a stage in Memphis. A city that has become very important in my life. To myself, Doc always seemed to be a man who was larger than life. A lot of people have said it, but it is surely true that Images won't be the same without Doc. He is a man that will never be forgotten.

Doc . . . Just as Arthur is now my family doctor, you will go down in history as Scatter's "family doctor." We go back to when the Franklin and Burk kids (along with the Lloyds, Filis, Keys and Laffertys) over-populated the classes at St. Paul Catholic and Bishop Byrne. You were always a great supporter of my entertainment column at the Memphis Press-Scimitar; as well as when I was the fund raising/PR consultant at the Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center. You were a role model as a family man and one could easily see the pride you took in each and every one of your kids, as well as your loving companion, Jackie. You will be more than greatly missed on God's Earth.

It was October 1982 I first met Ed, the owner of Bad Bob's. I had 120 British fans with me. I was greeted by this giant of a man with a big smile and even bigger heart. Bad Bob's, then Bad Bob's/Vapors became a home from home for hundreds of British fans with its great music, great entertainment and great food with friendly waitress service. Almost every night on the tours our fans would party at Bad Bob's.
Ed was a larger than life character and there are so few characters in Memphis. He had great charm, a great sense of humour, gave the impression of toughness but his bark was much worse than his bite and had great wit. Somehow he managed to juggle all the pressures in his life running clubs, being a vet and an active citizen yet always found time for me and others. Many happy hours were spent chatting in his office and doing charity and other promotions together.
I stopped taking tours to Memphis in 1992 after aggravation from EPE and lost touch with Ed, but I always remembered him and recommended Bad Bob's to fans visiting Memphis for the best music in town.
I am saddened to hear of his death... to me he was just Ed, a giant of a man in all ways. You think wonderful people like Ed will just go on and on. Jackie, you have lost not just a husband but a great man, a legend in Memphis and my deepest sympathies go to you and your family.
This week our Cyber Newsletter will feature a fond tribute to Ed. It's read by thousands of fans worldwide,
Elvisly Yours,
Sid and Maureen
