To Bill's Family, my prayers are with you now and forever more. One thing that I know is that Bill was a wonderful person and I enjoyed working with him. I will always remember his smile and for always being so kind. I will miss him, but "WEEPING MAY ENDURE FOR A NIGHT, BUT JOY COMES IN THE MORNING" - God Bless you'll.

To the Hamilton Family: May the love of God give you peace and faith give you strength doing this time. My girlfriend worked with Bill and my father also (who is deceased) and she reminded me about how much respect they had for each other. I just know that what you give is what you get back, so I know even though I never worked with him that he was a very nice guy.

"And now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is love.”
I Corinthians 13:13
I only knew Bill Hamilton for 4 years, while working with him in the Public Works department of the City of Memphis, but in those four years, he presented himself to me as a God fearing, loyal, loving family man.
Bill helped me through a hard time in my life, when I was trying to lose weight. With his encouragement and loving talks and compassion, I lost over 145 pounds. I will miss Bill and his kind words and smile. Bill was pure at heart and "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” (Matthew 5:8)
May God continue to bless his family and loved ones. "Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.” (Jude 2)

Bill Hamilton was my friend and colleague. I had the pleasure of working with him at the City of Memphis Public Works Division since 1992. He and I worked very close on many assignments and because of that we developed a special bond. Bill served under five different City of Memphis administrations and was considered by many as a Memphis Public Works historian. If you wanted to know why and when, he was the guy to call. Bill was involved in the first contract negotiations between the City of Memphis and local Union groups, and he helped write many of the articles that are in current Union contracts.
Bill Hamilton and I spent many hours together riding to project sites, going to meetings and dealing with the daily issues of managing a City Bureau. However, it was during the casual lighthearted moments between the meetings that I learned to admire and respect him. Bill was a man of courage and integrity. I observed him persevere personal and professional challenges in his life. No matter the circumstances he would always handle it the same: he faced the challenge straight on. I know three things about Bill Hamilton: he loved his job, he loved his church, and he loved his family.
Ham Bone, as he was called by some of his close friends, was also a man of quick wit and humor. Nobody could shoot you a one-liner like him. When asked how his day was going he would reply "son I having so much fun that if it were not for these suspenders holding me in my pants, I would float away." Another fond memory of Bill is when he took me to see his Sunday School classroom at his church. He was beaming with pride and excitement, just like a young boy with a shiny new bike.
I am going to miss my colleague and co-worker, but, most of all, I am going to miss my friend.

To Mrs. Hamilton, Sherri and the boys: I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. I know God's almighty love and grace will be with you in the days to come. Laura thought so much of Mr. Hamilton and I am so glad she had the chance to get to know him. If there is anything I can do, please let me know.
Sincerely, Connie

I was fortunate to work with Bill in PW Street Maintenance for ten years. Nothing ever seemed to ruffle him with his easygoing nature. My condolences go out to his family that I know will see him again some day.

Janice, Chris, and Sherry: My, where do I begin? Some of my most vivid memories as a child are of Bill holding me on a Sunday at church, always making a big deal about seeing me. Later in life, I'd come to know him as a co-ed softball coach and knowledgeable sunday school teacher.
May God give you strength in this tme. I will ALWAYS remember his sweet spirit, and I mean that. You were truly blessed to have had such a great man in your family. I love you all.
