Katherine Lelia Groseclose Lyttle

Katherine Lelia Groseclose Lyttle, 95, of Waynesboro, passed away Sunday evening, September 27, 2009, at Avante of Waynesboro.

She was born July 23, 1914, in Radford, a daughter of the late Floyd and Katherine Scott Groseclose.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lyttle Sr.; one son, Joseph Lyttle Jr.; one sister, Elizabeth Kennett; and a granddaughter, Rebekah Jane Gibson.

Mrs. Lyttle was an active member of First Methodist Church in Mullens, West Virginia, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Manchester, Georgia, where she was a member of the women's circle of the church. In Manchester she was also a member of the Women's Club. She taught Sunday school and enjoyed crocheting and knitting.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Nancy Lyttle of Waynesboro; one granddaughter, Nancy Jo Gibson and her husband, David, of Waynesboro; two great-grandchildren, David L. Gibson III and Joseph E. Gibson; two great-great- grandchildren, Taylor and Callie Gibson.

A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, West Virginia, with Pastor Buck Fancher officiating.

Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro has been entrusted with the arrangements. There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bibles, East Augusta Camp, P.O. Box 715, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
