Dear Uncle Gilly,
Although I didn't see you much in recent years, I'll always remember you as being my Godfather and one of the funniest men in the world. You were the pioneer of ballbreakers and I will miss you tremendously. I'll never forget the time when I spent a week or two at your house on Dearcop and it was around the time of my 10th birthday. You took me to Simons Toy Store at Westgate Plaza and got me a Daisy Air Rifle. I was so excited to get that gun and I remember pretending to be The Rifleman. When my mother found out of course she went through the ceiling but I still got to keep that gun. And also Thank you so much for all the wonderful memories at Christmas being the best Santa Claus because you truly was a Jolly Santa. I love you Uncle Gil, you were my most favorite Uncle and you will always be my most favorite Uncle. You will never be forgotten.
Love Always Your Nephew

Jeannie, KK, Garrison and Reef Kai,

I'm so sorry for your loss, my heart goes out to you all. Although regretfully, I never met your father/grandfather I feel I know him from the stories you've told me and beautiful photos you've shared with me. A kind hearted, compassionate and brave man, with a mischievous sense of humor! I see that same strength, courage and grace in the four of you, not to mention that wonderful sense of humor and fun that you all share. He, like my own father will live on in the memories and stories of all the people whose lives he touched. Have a safe journey to New York and know that my love and thoughts will be with you.

Dear Uncle Gilly,

You are the sweetest uncle I could ever have. I always think of you when we plant our garden in the Spring. You and Aunt Betty always brought us the best tomatoes! You always gave me great support when my dad was sick. I am so thankful I was able to see you again recently and spend time laughing and crying with you. Please give my dad a hug from me. I will miss you both tremendously. Love, Paula

Uncle Gilly,

Some of my fondest childhood memories are of you and your brothers sitting around the table, eating home made pasta and just laughing and telling stories of times that most of us can only read about.

As I grew up I looked forward to getting home to Rochester to see you at the Cervini family Christmas Party. The joy you brought to all my little cousins when you came into the cabin with a big smile, a red suit and giant bag of presents.

You will always be one of my heroes Uncle Gilly. Thank you for all of the memories. You will be missed dearly. God Bless.

We will miss you dearly

Dear Uncle Gilly,

I loved talking to you at our kitchen table on Ardella Street and hearing about your war stories. I remember you telling me about how you dug a fox hole and the other soldiers were making fun of you. Then you got bombed and you were one of the few who had a hole to hide in. It saved you and everyone had to eat their words after that. I carry that lesson with me throughout my life.

I remember when I went into the Air Force, my mom always told me how you were so proud of me and you always asked how I was doing. I didn't get to spend as much time with you growing up as I would have liked, but the moments we spent at family gatherings at Aunt Kay's house, our graduation and birthday parties and our Cervini Christmas Parties were precious and fun. You made the best Santa ever.

You will always hold a place dear to my heart and I have nothing but fond memories of you always smiling.

Love,
Your niece,
Antoinette

PS I never did go to work for the Post Office, sorry, But maybe you can put in a recommendation for me in heaven. Even Angels need mail and this letter to you is special delivery

My dear brother Gilly, Oh how I will miss you. I will miss the days when we were young and we used to laugh so much. You, your 5 brothers and your sisters had not much in material things, but we had the closeness that only comes with the love we shared in the good times and the bad. I remember how sad we all were when WWII broke out and you and 3 of your brothers joined up to fight for our country. Ma would get on her knees in her bedroom and pray desperately to God for your safe return and He in all his compassion did return you all home to us safely. We were so proud of you all. You all remained our heroes to the day you left us to return to God's army in heaven. God's many blessings to your daughter Jeannie and her three beautiful children. Your loving sister Claire.

To my dear Father! You will be remembered as one of the most heroic and most loving Dad anyone could ever ask for! I will miss you and Mommy! I will see you both in heaven someday and for that I am happy! It was a wonderful and sometimes challenging 7 years but I would not have changed anything for the world! You have touched many lives over 90 years! I will miss your WW2 stories but will remember all of them! I will miss all of your expressions and wonderful humor!
Thank you for serving and coming back as a WW2 hero!!!
God Bless all of the great Veterans!!!
God Bless the WW2, 82nd Airborne!
You will be missed by your little girl!
