Jacqueline Lucas Obituary
Penfield/formerly of Pittsford: 82, died Sunday, September 14, 2008 at Strong Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband, William "Luke" Lucas, parents, Titus and Maryon Hale of Portland, CT.; sister, Ruth DeWire and brother Titus Hale, Jr.. Jackie was born in Middletown, CT on May 17, 1926. She graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in Chemistry and shortly afterward married her husband Luke. Jackie devoted her life to family, friends and charitable projects, remaining very active up to a short time before her death. She was an avid and beloved quilter in the area, belonging to Henrietta Quilt Club, Genesee Quilt Club, and the Sew Bees, was past president of the Women's Assoc. of Oak Hill C. C., and a member of Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church. She loved life and people, traveling, giving time to civic and church activities, participating in a bridge club, bowling and playing golf. She is survived by her 5 sons, Robert (Kim), Jim (Joyce), Scott (Ruth), Dick (Barbara), and Carter (Lauri); brother, Robert Hale; 10 grand children.
Friends may call Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, 10 AM at Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church, 1200 Winton Rd. S. Rochester, 14618. Interment will be private. In memory of Jackie, those who wish may make contributions to Pluta Cancer Center, PO Box 18129 Rochester, 14618.

To all my cousins and your families: I am sorry to hear about Aunt Jackie. I too shared letters with her at Christmastime. I will miss that connection with the Hale family. Am thinking of you during these sad times.

I am so very surprised and sorry to learn of Aunt Jackie's passing. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time of losing your sister. Please take comfort in your happy imemories and realize that she is now with Luke and Vi and Ruth and John and Mom and Dad and even little Christopher. My sympathy is with you.

Carter, Dick, Scott, Jim, and Bob,
I am sorry to hear of Aunt Jackie's passing. I believe the last time I saw her was when she was in Portland for a PHS graduation and I was in Old Saybrook. She also kept me updated every Christmas on my cousins - all of you - and your families. You are all in my thoughts during this difficult time.

I enjoyed seeing Jackie at my son Alex's wedding in August 2007. My condolences to Bob and my five cousins and their families. I regret not attending the funeral in Rochester, particularly given the chance to meet my cousins. I have fond memories of summer at the beach. Cousin Bob, do you remember winning the shopping mall egg throwing contest? Best wishes during this difficult time> Bill.

Although I haven’t seen Aunt Jackie in several years, she and I exchanged chatty letters each Christmas and I have felt very much connected to her. She always made me smile! My sympathies are with you all.

Bob, Jim, Scott, Dick, and Carter -
It is hard to believe that Aunt Jackie is gone. I'm glad we saw her last summer at Bill's son's wedding. She was a wonderful person - my mother was very fond of her and so was I.
