Alfred Ranzenbach Obituary

Ranzenbach, Alfred B., Sr.
Gates: Entered into rest with the Lord on Saturday, October 27, 2007, after a long illness. Born in 1923 in Kulmbach, Germany, and immigrated to Gates, NY, at 9 years of age. Predeceased by his granddaughter, Tara Jean Kelly; great-grandson, Xavier Huffman; brother, Norman Ranzenbach. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elsie (O'Connell) Ranzenbach; children, Elsie Babette Warren, Alice (Tom) Osburn, Edward (Brenda) Ranzenbach, Marilyn Leone (Jim Philipps), Al (Karen) Ranzenbach, Jr.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Alice Ranzenbach, Bill and Mary Lou O'Connell, Elfreide O'Connell; many nieces and nephews.
He served honorably as a corporal with the 34th infantry of the United States Army from 1943-1945, where he earned a number of decorations including the Purple Heart. He was also a member of American Legion Doud Post #98.
Friends may call MONDAY from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Road, Gates. On Tuesday morning, October 30, friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 9:30 in St. Theodore's Church. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to American Heart Assoc., PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220, or to Mary Cariola Children's Center, 1000 Elmwood Ave., Suite 100, Rochester, New York 14620, in his memory.
