Anna Hull Obituary

Anna Janis Torghele Hull 1912 ~ 2009 Anna Janis Torghele Hull, born January 3, 1912, passed away early Sunday morning March 22, 2009 at PeachTree Place, West Haven, Utah, of causes incident to age. Ann is the daughter of immigrant parents, Domenic and Orsola Paterno Torghele. She was born in Hooper, Utah and spent a small part of her childhood in Superior, Wyoming. Her parents returned to Hooper to farm and she resided there until 1952, when she and her husband moved to Roy, Utah. Ann's mother died when Ann was 10 years old. As the oldest child of two brothers and one sister, she began her task of mothering and housekeeping at an early age, leaving school to help her father care for the house and the children. She was self taught in many areas. She loved reading, working crossword puzzles and was an immaculate housekeeper and wonderful cook. In later years, as her eyesight failed, she missed doing these things immensely. The word "classy" defines her demeanor. She married Charles Frederick Hull May 14, 1930 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Ann was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the auxiliaries and supported her husband as he served as Bishop of the Lakeview Ward and as Mayor of Roy City. Her husband passed away June 1, 1976. She is survived by her five children, Norma (Dr. Thair) Carver, Logan, Utah; Charles Clark (Betty) Hull, Franklin, Tennessee; Dr. Donald Frederick (Annette) Hull, Los Altos, California (currently serving a mission in London, England); MaryBeth (Dr. Rodney) Cragun, Pleasant View, Utah; and Dr. Dale Brent Hull (Renee) South Jordan, Utah. She is survived by 29 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sister, Mary Torghele, brothers, Charles, Raymond and Herman Torghele, son-in-law, Rodney Cragun, great-grand-daughter, Danielle Heslop, great-grandson, Brennen Carver and step-great-grandson, Charles "Otter" Sare, killed in action in Iraq. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West. Friends and family may call on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Roy City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Dr. Dale Hull Foundation for the rehabilitation of spinal cord injuries, 10382 South Jordan Gateway, South Jordan, Utah 84095. Dale Hull - I remember you as a child. You and your family lived right in back of us in Roy. Your mother was a sweet, gracious lady. I remember her and your dad walking hand in hand down the street to the church. He was the bishop of our ward. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
