Jennie Mahoney Obituary

Jennie Serafini Mahoney longtime resident of Leominster; 92 LEOMINSTER Jennie (Pitkiewicz) Serafini Mahoney, 92, longtime resident of 100 Main St., Leominster, died October 14, 2008, after a brief illness at Sterling Health Center. Jennie was born in Worcester, Jan. 19 ,1916 a daughter of Anthony and Rozalie (Baron) Pitkiewicz. Her parents migrated from Poland in the early 1900's. The family moved to Gardner where Jennie attended public schools and graduated from Gardner High School.She married Joseph Serafini in 1935 and moved to Leominster. Jennie's mother and father in law migrated from Italy in the early 1900's and living with an Italian family soon learned to understand the Italian language. Her husband died at the early age of 33 leaving three children, ages 12, 10, and 3. In January 1951, Jennie married Alfred Mahoney and they had two children. Years later, Jennie and her husband moved to New Hampshire due to Alfred's health. Alfred died in October, 1985. A few years later, Jennie moved back to Leominster and lived at 100 Main Street. She is predeceased her two husbands, Joseph and Alfred, six brothers, and one sister. She is survived by four sons, Joseph Serafini, Richard Serafini, Henry Serafini, Steven Mahoney and their wives, Rita Gallotto, Carolyn Salvi, Susan Griffith, Emma Hatstat; and one daughter, Maureen Wright and her husband, Glenn; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Reflecting on Jennie's life it is obvious she lived a very busy life raising five children, enjoying all her grand and great-grand children and living with three ethnic cultures, Polish, Italian, and Irish. SERAFINI MAHONEY The funeral will be held today from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., Leominster, with a mass at 11 a.m. in St. Leo's Church, 128 Main St., Leominster. Calling hours are today from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner, MA. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to St. Leo's Parish, 128 Main St., Leominster, MA. To light a candle, leave a condolence message or sign a guest book. go to www.wrightroyfuneralhome.com.
