To The Welch Family,
I have just heard of the passing of Mark. I am deeply sadden beyond words. As a young person I remember Mark vividly working along side my mom with the food pantry at Horace Bushnell. I remember the talk he had with me just before I was to get married. I have so many fond memories of him and I am going to miss him much.

Dear Beverly and Family:
Darwin and I send our heartfelt condolences. When we learned of Mark's passing it saddened us, but we know for sure that He is in a place prepared for him. Mark touched my family in so many ways too many to mention. He worked so hard with my mother Violet L. Irving and Regina Brown on so many projects all for the advancement of mankind. He married my sister Tanya(Irving)Brinson twenty-six years ago and me and Darwin twenty-five years ago. He always had time to mentor and guide Darwin, who has been in ministry over twenty years, thanks Bev, for sharing him. You and your family will never be forgotten.
Yours in Christ

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Rev. Mark Welch. I still fondly recall my days of working with Mark, Regina Brown, Leonard Dixon,Doug Andrews, and so many others as we sought to bring about change in the Upper Albany community. From protesting the lack of minority workers on the civic center crew to bringing in the Rev. Jesse Jackson and starting a chapter of PUSH. Creating low income housing on Vine St and other memories to numerous to mention. I thank God for the blessing of having had such a mentor to a teenager with a big vision. It is because of his infuence that I am now Senior Pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lancaster, Pa. Beverly, my wife Sandra and I are praying for you and your family.

To Mark,
Thank you for accepting us into your loving heart, albeit for too brief a time in the world. Having met and gotten to know you a little was a true joy and deeply moving for us. We grieve our own loss of you and will remember your beautiful and fierce spirit and generosity always! May you now be at peace as you enter a new life with God.
Beverly and Alex, may you be held in the comforting arms, deeds, and thoughts of family and friends at this time, and may you find peace in knowing that Mark will always continue to be part of you both.
Beverly, you have given so much love and caring to the world and touched my heart deeply many years ago and now. May you receive this love back a thousand fold in your time of grieving. I love you. -Carole
