Douglas E. Stilwell

GRANITE FALLS - Douglas Edward Stilwell, 47, of Hickory, passed away Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at Mission Hospital in Asheville. He was born Dec. 3, 1961, in Caldwell County to Josephine Stilwell of Hickory and the late Harold Stilwell. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandmother. Mr. Stilwell was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Laura Stilwell of Bethlehem; a son, Steven Stilwell of Asheville; a daughter, Victoria "Tori" Stilwell of Hickory; two brothers, Gary Stilwell and Greg Stilwell, both of Hickory; and one sister, Joann Heskett of Lenoir. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Liberty Baptist Church, with the Revs. Gene Gouge and Chris Decker officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church, prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Greg Stilwell Jr., Russell Blinson, Cliff Carswell, Shawn Thompkins, Mark Starnes and Adam Brown.
