Cecilia Higgins Obituary

CECILIA QUIN HIGGINS died peacefully at the age of 80 on Saturday, July 14, 2007 in the hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Galveston, TX to Cecilia and Edward Dixon Quin. Cecilia grew up in Waco, graduating from St. Mary's School and Four C's Business College. Upon returning to Galveston, she worked for the University of Texas Medical Branch for 30 years, retiring as Administrative Assistant to the Department Chair of Pediatrics. She was active in her church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, lector and usher. Cecilia is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Carolyn Messier and husband, Jessie J. Higgins. She is survived by her brothers, Edward Quin & wife Marjorie, Francis Quin & wife Delores and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 8:00 PM on Monday with a Wake Service and Rosary at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church, 13350 Ashford Point, Houston, TX 77082 with Rev. Paul Chovanec celebrant. Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
