Sondra Methmann-Evans Obituary

Sondra Methmann-Evans (Mrs. Sandy Ryals) Sept 26, 1929 - Oct 8, 2010 Former Resident of Oakland Sondra passed away at home from complications of late stages Parkinson's. She was with her husband, Dick Evans, daughter Bethany, and caregiver Vicki Panzeri. We send deep gratitude to the caregivers at Chateau of Bothell Landing and Evergreen Hospice. Born in Hollywood, CA, Sondra graduated UC Berkeley in 1951. For 26 years Mrs. Ryals was an inspired 2nd grade teacher at Lake Heights Elementary School in the Bellevue School District. She logged thousands of volunteer hours at the Woodland Park Zoo (docent, gorilla observer and gardener.) She was an avid hiker, backpacker, gardener, photographer, birder, world traveler and reader. She was a fun loving and energetic person who was a profound example of deep quiet love and finding joy in life's blessings and challenges. Sondra loved life and the beauty of this world. She will be greatly missed and remembered with everlasting love. When the wild flowers bloom there will be a family hike into the mountains to spread her ashes, giving her to the land she held dear. There will also be a bench placed near the gorillas at the Zoo with her name and a few words about her life. Please, sit there and enjoy. Sondra was predeceased by her brother, Kent Methmann, and parents, Hugo Methmann and Mildred McKee Methmann. She is survived by her loving husband, Dick Evans, her children, Sam, Sharon, Steve, and Bethany, their father, Byron Ryals, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The memorial will be held Monday, November 1, 2010 at 6PM in the Bistro, Bldg C at The Chateau of Bothell Landing, 17543 102nd Ave NE, Bothell, WA 98011
