Jane Ciacio Obituary
On Jan. 19, 2007, just after sunset in Ojai, we lost our devoted and loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend, Jane Ann Ciacio, born Jane Ann King.
Jane was born in Gibson City, Ill., on Aug. 19, 1958. She moved with her family to Oxnard when she was 6 years old. Jane graduated from Oxnard High School, Ventura College and Watterson College. She was a court reporter at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse for many years.
Just over seven years ago, Jane married the love of her life, Tom Ciacio. Together they created an inseparable bond. Their unconditional love for each other grew each day into a seldom seen devotion.
Jane is survived by her husband, Tom of Ventura; father, Hugh King of Oxnard; brother, Jeff (wife Kathi) of Montecito; sisters, Joni (husband Ed) Gurrola of San Diego and Jill Corona of Salt Lake City, Utah; 10 nieces and nephews; many generous and caring friends; and her cat, Katie.
Jane's nature was selfless, caring and giving. She loved her family. Sadly, the Lakers have lost an ardent fan. She was a friend to all animals. Little else was needed in her life.
She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Dorothy King; grandmother, Opal Smith; and mother-in-law, Josephine Ciacio.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 at Ojai Valley United Methodist Church, 120 Church Road, Ojai. According to Jane's wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes given to her family.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jane's name to the Humane Society of Ventura County.

I have over 25 years of treasured memories of Jane, back when we were both young and carefree. She is missed deeply. To Tom and her family, take heart in the fact that she was loved by so many people. Good bye to my friend...until we meet again.

I am so sorry to learn of Jane's passing. We hardly knew one another but had written on the bladder cancer webcafe as I am also a bladder cancer patient. She seemed to be such a wonderful person. I am sorry.

I am sorry to learn of Jane's passing. She benefitted many others who also face struggles with bladder cancer by sharing her experiences through the cafe. She will be missed. My condolences to her family and other friends.

It was with much sadness that I learned of Jane's passing. We had the same surgery the same week and I remember her brave words on the Bladder Cancer Web Cafe and how they helped me face my surgery. I feel that I have lost a companion on this journey. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I will miss Jane. We have been cyberpals (cats, cancer) for many years.
I last called her on her Birthday 8.19.03. I was concerned then about her health status - in such an 'unlike' Jane way, she didn't seem to want to talk.
Tom, may you find the inner strength you'll need to 'carry on' (Including taking care of yourself and those cats!).

To all of Jane's family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. Jane will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her that she was a very kind, thoughtful and compassionate person. A true friend to all, a person that you could count on no matter what. I will cherish the memories that I have of her and I am thankful for the many years of friendship. It's always difficult to find the right words of comfort at the passing away of a loved one. Dear Jill, Tom, Hugh, Joani, Jeff, Kathi and family,
We are so very sorry for your loss of Jane. We know how much she was loved and cherished by all of you. She was truly a sweet, kind and sincere girl. Please know that our love and prayers are with you and we will be there for Jill and you at any time.
The sorrow that is felt with Jane's passing is eventually replaced with those memories of her kind, sweet and giving nature. The part of her that she left with us makes us all a little bit better. Certainly, heaven gained another angel as she entered.
