I didnt know Uncle Boyd well but I still loved the man. What I remember the most about him was the authority and power he spoke with when he did funerals and the way he folded the flag. He folded my Grandfather Dan's flag. He was a great man, funny, and God fearing and God loving. Rest With God Uncle Boyd. Say hello to Aunt Mildred, and Grandma Fallwell for me. Amen.

Emails received from family and friends concerning the passing of our beloved brother Boyd Eugene Fallwell:
From Janet Basnett on February 1, 2007 to Mary Ellen – Janet is Boyd’s first cousin and the daughter of his Aunt Doris Feezell, Hazel Fallwell’s sister:
I know today has been a hard day for all of you and you still have more hard ones to go through but I have been praying for you and my arms are around each one of you. You had a VERY SPECIAL and DEAR brother. I put a post on my blog in Boyd's memory. >From June & Bill Lawerance on February 1, 2007 – June is the daughter of Boyd’s Aunt Pearl Decker, Hazel Fallwell’s sister:
We were so very saddened to hear about Boyd, my heart breaks for all your family, as i know how very much he was loved by all, and he did so many wonderful things, to help all, but now he is in the arms of God, and his family…..my thoughts and prayers will always be with all of you may god bless and comfort each of you… JUNE & BILL
From Donna (Weaver) Jones on February 2, 2007 – Donna was our neighbor when we were kids on 14th Street:
I am so sorry to hear about Boyd. Praise God for the great witness he became. Donna
From Mike Carpenter on February 3, 2007 – Dad of Timmy & Misti Carpenter, Rowena’s grandchildren:
We are so sorry for your loss of Boyd. I share your grief. A grief shared is half the grief, I've heard. But, a joy shared is twice the joy. So, let’s rejoice for Boyd, because he is in a much better place. You and all the family will all join him, someday. Love, Mike
From Rhonda Smith on February 2, 2007 – Rhonda is Boyd’s niece and the daughter of Retha. She is employed at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and sent this bulletin to all of the FAA:
Chaplain Lt. Colonel Boyd Fallwell was a member of the Honorguard. Boyd presided over services for many military veterans funerals (all branches of service), some of whom had been FAA employees. This honor guard performed 1,327 military honors since 1991. (See Honor Guard web site: http://honorguard.org/)
Boyd passed away Wednesday evening (January 31st) from heart failure. Boyd once stated, "They are not forgotten! "Taps" are sounding!" His selfless example of serving those in need, especially veterans and their families, is indeed an inspiration.
From Carolyn Delee Peoples on February 3, 2007 – Delee is the oldest granddaughter of Rowena, Carleen’s daughter:
A Beautifully Stated Thought and Prayer
As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.
Don't be afraid that your life will end,
be afraid that it will never begin.
News article about Boyd submitted to The Oklahoman by Mary Ellen (Fallwell) McCoy, Boyd's sister. Here is the article:
Chaplain Lt. Col. Boyd E. Fallwell was an extraordinary man and a wonderful brother. He gave his life selflessly for 1,327 deceased veterans by giving them military honors at their funeral services. You may have seen his picture on giant billboards in Oklahoma City where he was honored for “Selfless Service”. In 2005, he was honored with the “Good Samaritan Award.” He was chaplain of the Veterans of American Honorguard.
Everyone that knew Boyd always loved him. His niece, Teri Butler, had these wonderful words to say about her Uncle Boyd: “I witnessed God's love first-hand when Uncle Boyd was near because Boyd loved unconditionally, freely, passionately and sincerely. That kind of love can only come through knowing God. He really enjoyed people, especially children, and he made everyone feel very special all of the time. He always had a joke or a trick to make us laugh. He brightened my world when he was around and I've felt better about life knowing there are people like him in this world. He always had a laugh and a smile, and I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone.” This was the man everyone knew! Mary (Fallwell) McCoy
All of Boyd’s brother & sisters have received numerous phone calls from our children, grandchildren, relatives and friends saddened by the loss of our precious Boyd and concerned for Boyd’s wife, children, and grandchildren. Boyd was loved by so many!!

I am blessed and honored to call this man my GREAT UNCLE BOYD. I remember him always having a smile and at family gatherings, the kids would always flock around him. I am reminded of the picture of Jesus sitting on a rock and all the children surrounding him. Maybe that is why the kids flocked Uncle Boyd because they could see Jesus in him. He would tell stories, funny jokes and would do tricks. The funniest one for me was watching the young children's faces as they watched in amazement when he would do the eyeball trick.
Uncle Boyd has touched so many lives, his family, friends, the families of veterans and the veterans that he honored, including my Dad. God took a retired mechanic and gave him a calling and he took it and did it well, I know God has said to him "Well done they good and faithful servant." Matt 25:21 And, I say to my GREAT UNCLE BOYD, "I thank my God every time I remember you." Phil 1:3

It was my privilege to meet Boyd Fallwell in 1999 when he provided the program for the South Oklahoma Rotary Club. He explained to us his purpose in going to so many veteran funerals to honor those who gave so much to serve our country. He was truly a blessing to so many.
I know he is now reaping his reward. (USAF Retired Paul Diggs)

I am proud to say that my Grandfather was one of the 1,000 military services that Boyd did in his lifetime. Boyd was my Great Great Uncle, and i will miss him dearly! He always would find a way to make you smile when he was around, always with a smile himself, i don't think that i ever saw that man with a frown on his face. Boyd is now in a place that most wish that we could be, walking on streets of gold, and sitting down and talking to our Lord. Boyd was a very important man to many and loved by all. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Boyd was a Christian. Anyone who came in contact with him knew that. I am so thankful for the many times he came to Hillside Baptist Church. We had the pleasure of having Boyd with us on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2006. His services were inspiring! I've never seen anyone give a more respectful and proper memorial to America's Veterans. This Nation should take a lesson from Boyd. He did it Right, Every Time. Our church family thought so much of Boyd. May God Bless his family at this time.

Knowing Boyd was such a blessing. He was a dedicated Christian man who cared so much for others. We had a special bond because he was military but also he was my first cousin. Driving tireless miles and giving his special military services to Veterans and their families showed his love and concern for others. We are so happy Boyd was in our family. We love and miss you, Janet & Gary Basnett

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Chaplain Col. Boyd E. Fallwell was an extraordinary man and a wonderful brother. Beginning in 1991, he gave his life selflessly to over 1,327 deceased veterans by giving them military honors at their funeral services. You may have seen his picture on giant billboards in Oklahoma City where he was honored as a hero for “Selfless Service”. In 2005, he was honored with the “Good Samaritan Award” by the American Red Cross, and he was honored in numerous publications. He served his country in the US Army Military Police Corps during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955 and he was Chaplain of the Veterans of America Honorguard.
Chaplain Boyd Fallwell was known as the One Man Honor Guard, but his presentation of honor was every bit as precise and moving as a full Honor Guard, if not more so. He wept over every one of his "departed comrade", especially those who were all but forgotten.
Chaplain Boyd Fallwell traveled to countless schools, churches and organizations all over Oklahoma to teach children and adults the importance of honoring America and her flag. He often taught the children how to properly present, handle and fold the American flag while explaining the sacrific of men and women who fought for our flag and for what she stands, the meaning of the colors and the purpose of the folds. A retired mechanic, Boyd Fallwell loved teaching American History to anyone interested. Chaplain Fallwell is respected and admired by thousands of Oklahoma school children.
Everyone who knew Boyd always loved him. His niece, Teri Butler, had these wonderful words to say about her Uncle Boyd: “I witnessed God's love first-hand when Uncle Boyd was near because Boyd loved unconditionally, freely, passionately and sincerely. That kind of love can only come through knowing God. He really enjoyed people, especially children, and he made everyone feel very special all the time. He always had a joke or a trick to make us laugh. He brightened my world when he was around and I feel better about life knowing there are people like him in this world. He always had a laugh and a smile, and I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone.” This was the man everyone knew!
Most of the people he served would not suspect he had a severely debilitating heart disease. He walked strong and proud with precision and purpose in his step until the very end. It was during a 58 day recovery from a severe heart attack in 1990 that he said 'God spoke to him' and called on him to honor departed servicemen. Boyd answered this call with a passion and intensity rarely seen today, never turning down a request. He did not charge for his service and used his own resources for travel arrangement and other expenses.
We are greatly saddened by his passing on January 31, 2007.
His website is awesome with over 200 pages of tributes to American veterans. You may visit his website at http://www.honorguard.org/ .
He was a man who knew his heart and mind and was not afraid to expound on his convictions, love and devotion to Christ, Grandma, all his family and friends, America and the American flag.
Uncle Boyd is a tough act to follow. All my life's endeavors pale in comparison to what Uncle Boyd has accomplished. His truely was a "Purpose Driven Life"! Love n ((hugs)) Teri
