I used to help take care of Dorothy a few hours a week until she moved to the Brethren Home in Greenville. Oh.
The first time that I went to her home in Kettering, Oh., was in March 2016, I fell in love with her within 15 minutes. I am so fortunate to have spent time with her. Dorothy was a
precious person— inside and out. I also felt like she was a mother to me. Linda Milam and I went to see her, usually once a week. (45 min drive one way) I was not able to go as often. When we would go up to see her, we would buy our lunch and eat with her. These are just some of the great memories that we will never forget. Just spending time with her was so precious! If you look at Linda Milam’s memories about Dorothy, you will see that she was a very special person and was so loved!

I was fortunate to take care of Dorothy 7 1/2 years. 7/2011 -9/2018 in her home. Dorothy was a very beautiful lady inside and out! Had her Master's degree in music, and taught for the department of defense. She taught in Tokyo,Germany,Paris, then eventually came back to the states and taught vocal and instrumental music,in school, and piano lessons in her home. Dorothy was an avid gardner. She had three flower beds, when I went to work for her. She told me 'now there will be something blooming all Spring and Summer, and there was! We helped her care for her flower gardens, and inside plants. She would be right there with us. Dorothy belonged to many Organizations, Delta Omicron(music fraternity) Dayton Woman's Club, College Club, Dayton retired teachers, Centerville Garden Club,Ikebana International which met at Cox Arboretum, and more. She attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton, sang in the big chior there, unde the leadership of John Neeley. Dorothy was loved by everyone! She was a very appreciative lady. She would teach school, come home, work in flower beds, come in,and sew. She made suits, coats, dresses, etc. She traveled many places, in the States, out of the states, and local. I asked her one day,"Dorothy, how have you been so many places"? She said if a group was planning a trip,I signed up and went. Dorothy and I,as I cared for her went many places together, and had a lot of fun.We were asked many times if we were Mother and Daughter. We finally just started saying "yes" we are. I looked to her as my Mother and She looked at me,as the daughter she never had. I am so thankful God caused our paths to cross. Dorothy added so much to my life! I am thankful. I will see you again one day ,Dorothy,in heaven. Linda Milam
