Joyce THACKERY Obituary
Joyce Barbara (Steiger) Thackery passed away Wednesday morning on January 6, 2021, at the age of 83. Joyce graduated from Springfield High School, Class of 1955, and earned a teaching degree from Wittenburg University and a Masters in Education from Wright State University. She taught in Clark County Schools and Dayton for over for 40 years, retiring from Northwestern Schools in 2004. She is survived by her two sons, Matthew and Samuel; her brother, John; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. As was her wish, her body was donted to Wright State University. A memorial will be held at a date to be determined later this year.

I remember Joyce as a tough, fair, and all around excellent teacher for the kids. I also remember her as a kind and positive person at church. She always made me feel like she was happy to see me. Excuse the grammar, but that ain’t nothing. Sending condolences to her beloved family.

Matt and Sam, I remember your mom more from church then from school. She was always so kind, and I believe she helped with the food at our wedding. She was always so proud of both of you. I am so heartbroken. Mrs Thackery was my ultimate favorite teacher and she made a huge impact in my life in 5th grade. Over the years we have exchanged Christmas cards to stay in touch. I will always treasure her kind words and encouragement. She was an amazing lady! Praying for the entire family ! So sorry for your loss!

Im so sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs.Thackery. She was my favorite teacher and made a huge impact on my life in 5th grade!
