Just a few minutes ago I was informed that my dear friend, Donna, passed. Yes, I know she is in Heaven, but my heart aches terribly with the loss of my special friend. Dear family, she loved you all SO VERY MUCH, which you already knew!!!! God bless her memory!!!!

I will say this to the best of my memory.
I first met Donna while eating breakfast at the Waffle House (pretty sure it was Waffle House) at the intersection of Brice and Tussing Roads. Donna was a server for Waffle House. This was early summer of 1977. I worked for Kobacker Stores as Director of Administrative Services. Kobacker Stores was building their new home office and warehouse on Tussing Road at the time.
Donna and I started talking and I told her I was there on business and was going to be hiring for our new home office. She asked what positions and I told her the main one was someone to run our mail room. Donna said she would love to have a job like that and would be interested in taking the position.
Over the next several weeks on my trips to our new facility, I always had breakfast at the Waffle House, Donna and I became friends and I finally offered her the job. I told her she would have to go to our office in Brilliant, OH for a week or two so she could 'learn the ropes' of running a large mailroom. She readily accepted the position.
I am so sorry to hear of Donna's passing.

Donna Mercer was a grand, kind and wonderful lady who had a big influence on my life. She and Paul were dear family friends and growing up would not have been the same without them. I am sad that I'll never be able to see Donna, hear her laugh or give her a hug again but I do know that I will rejoice when I see here again in Heaven. Blessings to all of you who loved her.
