So many traits come to mind when I remember Charles Bervin Edmondson, like intelligence, strength, courage, compassion, curiosity, warmth, humor, character. I met him in high school, and he was always that person you could trust, that stable presence, who always knew the right questions to ask and was perennially humble. He never gave up. He had that twinkle in his eye. He never lost it. He loved and lived to the full.
Even as he faced his how weakness and dis-ease later in life, he was full of grace and courage. I will miss "Buddy" as we classmates at Elizabethtown Catholic High School, KY, called him. No, he wasn't perfect, but he was always "our Buddy".
At the end, he showed us how to go on with our lives, by his living example of perseverance in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. He stepped up! ALWAYS! My sincere sympathy to you Charlene, and your family who were there for him always.
