Robert CHAPMAN Obituary
Age 84, of Kettering passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021. Bob was born in Dayton, Ohio, on February 5, 1937, to the late Raymond and Maude Chapman. Bob taught math, coached baseball and football at Fairmont East and Fairmont H.S. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, David Chapman and grandson, Ryan Chapman. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Pat Chapman; children, Kathy (Tony) Chapman-Dick and Rob (Brenda) Chapman; grandchildren, Jake, Luke and Kaylee Chapman; and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 25, 2021, from 12:30-2pm at the Newcomer
Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439. The service will follow at 2pm. Bob will be laid to rest at

Have you ever met a person for the first time and thought, I want this person to be a friend and in my life for 50 years. That happened with when I first met Bob and Pat. For the past 50 years we have been sharing good times and bad, but Bob always had a positive way of looking at life. We are members of "The Group". Fourteen friends who get together once a month to enjoy each others friendship. Bob had a lot of troubles to live with but boy did he enjoy life. He had a way about him when he could not see things well his vision could see into your heart and words would come out to sooth your concerns. 50 years, good friend what fun times we had over those years, that's what I will remember Rest in peace my friend your painful days are now over, but we will remember your laugh, your smile, and your positive attitude during a struggling life. The Group, says good bye.

Bob Chapman was my friend and mentor! I met Bob in 1973. He was always uplifting and inspirational. I taught and coached baseball with Bob for several years. Bob was a great Hall of Fame baseball coach and he was, more importantly, a Hall of Fame person. I love you, Bob, and I will miss you! My thoughts are with the family!

Such sad news, deepest sympathies to the Chapman family for the loss of a terrific man. Mr. Chapman was the best teacher in my academic experience. But more important he was a great role model and had a positive impact on many young people. RIP Bob.

Pat, Kathy, and Rob: Skip and I were so sorry to learn of Bob's passing. We will be forever grateful for the teacher and role model that Bob was to our kids when they were at Fairmont. Bob was certainly one of the "good people " in this world.

Coach Chapman was a great coach but an even better man. Coach wasn’t just coaching baseball, he was molding young men. I have realized later in life just how much of an impact he had on my life. A great man that will truly be missed.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I admired Mr. Chapman because he didn't let any disability stop him. He was a great teacher. I was blessed to have him for geometry.
