William L Heath and staff at House of 10K Frames
October 15, 2024
I was sitting here at work and got to thinking we hadn't seen any of Mr Izenson's cartoons this election cycle - we always looked so forward to his work as we are all of a similar mindset here. his illlustrations were so funny - and accurate! :) I did a quick google search of his name and his obituary was the first thing to pop up. Everyone here at the House of 10,000 Picture Frames in Kettering, OH was so bummed to hear this news - we had been framing and mounting his work for many, many years. And I'm so sorry we hadn't heard about this sooner. His voice is such a loss - he was so talented and always so agreeable as a customer - a favorite of all of us here. What a loss.

Freddie has been a dear friend since 1955. My wife and I were at his wedding and he and Eva visited us in Denver. I knew his parents and Freddie knew mine.
I will never forget the good times we had together.

It has taken far too long for me to say something about Freddie. But certain things take time.
The las time i emailed Freddie I told him that we would always love each other. That was true.
We met in early 1955 at the U of Miami. We were two guys out of place. We were both transfers. He from Michigan and I from Wisconsin. We were probably two of the very few guys who were not - or not trying to be- full time degenerates. The really rich guys went to Cuba for weekends (it was before Castro). We didn't. We really did study. Really. And both graduated.
We lived together for a magical year. It was amazing. Yes, he really did call Eydie Gorme. I told him he was crazy and she would never talk to him. But she did. I was there and heard the conversation.
We knew we would be lifelong friends. And we were. Freddie and Eva came to Denver once and we spent the day together. It was wonderful. Still dear friends.
We did stay in touch. I even read his much too long book about his legal career and we exchanged photos of our families.
Yes, I do and will miss him. It's really difficult knowing he is gone.
Anyway, I just wanted his family and friends that we were the dearest of friends.
