We tend remember the kind and gentle friends in our youth. That is my memory of Bill.

Priscilla and Bill were the first Daytonians I ever met when I was an intern at Cox Arboretum way back in 1980. Bill was always a concerned dad and asked about my car, plants, and how to grow clematis successfully. What a gift he was to all of us former interns, staff and now retired staff of the Arboretum.
His quiet jokes, love of UD basketball and his wonderful children, Jon and Carol, and his beloved Priscilla ( know locally as Our Lady of Good Cooking)
I send you all my thoughts and prayers at this time. I know Bill is either fixing something or trying to grow something beautiful in Heaven

Your friend always

Our dear Uncle Bill... Uncle Bill always had a wonderful, unique and dry sense of humor. We would always just wait for what he might say. Others were very talkative in our family and he would wait for his moment for the zinger which sometimes was so clever it took the family a moment to really realize how funny his comment truly was. He always had such a gorgeous garden in his back yard and spent time trying to keep the squirrels off his bird feeder. I always admired his service to protect our country but didn't realize how brave he was until my husband and I visited a display of war planes and saw a plane similar to one in which he flew take off and land. We were able to peak inside and see where the navigators sat. It seemed all too precarious to me. Those men also never knew if they were coming back when they took off. God bless them all. Aunt Priscilla, Carol and Jon, we love you and are praying for you. He is at rest after a great life of dedication. We love you and miss you all.
