George was a fantastic community leader. We met as part of our service to The Presidents Club of Dayton. He was always loyal to so many organizations and especially loved the City and people of Kettering. He was faithful to The Citizen Legion of Honor Award and was there to celebrate Bing Davis last fall. Peace be with you George and God´s blessings to you and your family.

Our deepest condolences to the Bayless family as you mourn the loss of George, a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle. There are so many wonderful memories that come to mind when remembering Uncle George. Thanksgiving was always a special holiday filled with engaging conversation and a delectable feast at Aunt Char and Uncle George's home in Kettering. Watching Uncle George carve the turkey was one of my favorite memories followed by nap time next to him seated in his chair as we watched the Detroit Lions play football alongside a roaring fire. He was the consummate host. Summer family vacations at Green Lake were also filled with recollections of Uncle George. There are so many fond memories of him at the lake, but driving the boat for all of us to waterski and tube always brings a smile to my face. His love of music and Sertoma was infectious. He had such a love for trains and train travel. The model train display he had was just incredible and I always admired for him nurturing what made him happy. His love of education and community were apparent with longtime involvement on the School Board and Holiday at Home. Most of all, he loved his family. Uncle George will be missed, but he leaves an indelible mark on the lives he touched.

George was a master of involving himself in the world around him, especially leadership for Dayton & Kettering activities. When we was at Denison University he exhibited the same kind of service on campus. He co-chaired MelloMania, the first of its kind on college campuses. The event brought the George Shearing Quintet, The Salty Dogs from Purdue , and The Kingston Trio together for a single performance in Denison's Fieldhouse. Students came from everywhere to be part of the event. That memory lives brightly for 1959 -1962 graduates attending college reunions. Being on the cutting edge has served George's communities well and captured his many talents and desires to be part of something new.
