Long, Karen Elaine

Karen E. Long, age 73, passed from this life on Sunday, January 12, 2025. Karen was born on June 2, 1951 to Richard and Betty Stephens, in Dayton, Ohio. Karen was a graduate of Jefferson High School, Class of 1969. She started working at Dayton Daily News in 1973 and retired in 2009. She was a former member of the Eastern Stars Order. She enjoyed cooking, doing puzzles and spending time with her friends and family. She lived a long and fruitful life. Her strength came from her faith in God and her love for her family. She will be forever missed and never forgotten. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Long Sr.; parents, Richard and Betty J. Stephens Jr. Karen is survived by her loving and devoted children, Thomas S. Long Jr. (Chelesa Houser) and Richard O. Long; granddaughter, Georgia Elaine Long; her siblings, Hazel M. Wills (Joe), Linda C. Shaw, Donald A.(Clara) Stephens Sr., Gregory V. (Linda) Stephens of Aurora, CO, Terry B. (LeeAnn) Stephens of St. Louis Park, MN, Denise L. Stephens; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service 10 am Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Woodland Mausoleum Chapel, 118 Woodland Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 9 am- 10 am at which time family will receive friends. Arrangement entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
