CHARLES W. EUSTON
AGE: 92 SOMERVILLE
Charles W. Euston, 92, of Somerville, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Middlebrook Farms Assisted Living in Trumbull, Ct. Charles Willys Euston was born July 20, 1916. He was the son of the late Charles W. and Jessie P. Euston. At that time his father was in charge of the orchid range for the late James B. Duke. Later, Charles Sr. went into the flower business at his home at 181 South Bridge St. in Somerville, where Charles Willys resided until shortly before his death. Charlie (also know as Willie) graduated from Somerville High School, and in 1939 went into the National Guard spending time in the Philippines, Hawaii, and Guam in addition to many bases around the country. As a career Army sergeant he continued his travels with his family to France and Germany. In 1960 he retired to Somerville where he was employed by the Somerset YMCA as business manager. Charlie enjoyed walking, tennis, ice dancing, and commuting by train to family into his 90's. We will miss him.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the special people who cared for our Dad: Home Instead Senior Care, Raritan Senior Center, Frank Quinn of Somerville Recreation, United Reformed Church of Somerville, New Cemetery Staff, Robert Laird and the many others who made Dad's days meaningful. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to bike and tennis outreach programs, Somerville Recreation, 25W. End Ave., Somerville, NJ 08876. A memorial service will be held today, April 18, 2009 at 1:00A.M. in the United Reformed Church in Somerville. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery on April 20, 2009 at 2:00 P.M.
